The Everest Base Camp Trek 14 Days, elevating trekkers to a height of approximately 5,364 meters. This journey offers panoramic views of numerous 8,000-meter-high summits, including Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lobuche, and, of course, the iconic Mount Everest itself.

 

Getting There

 

The adventure begins with a breathtaking 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla during the months of January, February, June, July, August, September, and December. Alternatively, from March to May and October to November, trekkers can take a 20-minute flight from Manthali/Ramechhap to Lukla, following a 5 to 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Manthali.

 


The Journey

 

From Lukla to Namche Bazaar

 

The trek commences in Lukla, following the Dudh Koshi River’s bank and passing through the Sagarmatha National Park en route to Namche Bazaar. Namche serves as the main trading hub in the Everest region and is a popular acclimatization stop for trekkers.

Beyond Namche Bazaar

 

After a day of acclimatization in Namche Bazaar, the trek continues to Tengboche, where adventurers visit the renowned Tengboche Monastery. The journey progresses through Dingboche and Lobuche, offering stunning views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and many more peaks.

Reaching Everest Base Camp

 

Gorak Shep and the Khumbu Glacier

 

The trek advances to Gorak Shep, followed by a hike alongside the Khumbu Glacier, the world’s deepest glacier, until reaching Everest Base Camp. Trekkers then return to Gorak Shep to spend the night.

Sunrise at Kala Patthar

 

The next day, an early morning hike up Kala Patthar reveals a spectacular sunrise over Mount Everest and surrounding peaks. After taking in the magnificent views, trekkers return to Gorak Shep and then descend to Pheriche Village.

 


The Return Journey of Everest Base Camp Trek 14 Days

Retracing Steps

 

The return journey retraces the steps back to Tengboche, passing through lush forests of rhododendron and juniper, and continues on to Namche Bazaar. The trek concludes with a flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, marking the end of an unforgettable EBC trek in Nepal.

Seasonal Flight Adjustments

 

Due to air traffic congestion in Kathmandu, domestic flights to Lukla are diverted to Ramechhap Airport during the peak trekking months of March, April, May, October, and November. If you’re planning your trip during these months, be prepared for a 4-5 hour drive from Kathmandu to Manthali Airport in the Ramechhap district to board your flight to Lukla. For the remaining months (January, February, June, July, August, September, and December), flights will operate directly from Kathmandu to Lukla.

 

Flight Decisions and Potential Delays

 

Please note that flight decisions to Lukla are solely at the discretion of the airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Factors such as weather conditions, natural calamities, and airport traffic congestion can lead to delays or cancellations of flights.

 


Alternative Arrangements

 

In case of flight delays or cancellations, you have two options:

  1. Helicopter Ride: Opt for a helicopter ride from Kathmandu.
  2. Extended Itinerary: Increase your itinerary time frame to accommodate any delays.

It is advisable to have an emergency fund ready for such situations. Please note that costs for helicopter rides or additional days are not covered. Our team will make every effort to ensure good weather and smooth travel, but if issues persist, we will work with you to arrange alternate plans.

Note:
We provide a free duffel bag and baseball cap during your pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu. The duffel bag will be used to pack your trekking supplies. For every two participants, we assign one porter. The duffel bag, weighing around 10 kg/22 lbs, will be carried by the porter throughout the walk. To carry your daily necessities like cash, crucial papers, a water bottle or bladder, a camera, toiletries, sunscreen, a notebook, clothing, etc., you must have your own daypack (with a waterproof cover). You can store your luggage (non-trekking items) at the hotel in Kathmandu. The total luggage allotment allowance for the Kathmandu-Lukla flight is 15 Kg/33 lbs, including both duffel (10 Kg/22 lbs.) and backpack (5 Kg/11 lbs.) A down jacket with a hood is a must for altitudes above 4,000 m to keep warm. You can rent a down jacket for USD 35. Please note that in case of loss or damage, you need to reimburse the cost of USD 200 per item. You can rent a 4-season sleeping bag for USD 35. Note: Some clothing, especially form-fitting, figure-hugging items made of elastic material (like yoga pants), may offend locals.
